  This is the traditional streak house and lounge with spacious booths and tables. The bar was nicely lit and inviting with open space too. Cocktail menu was great with knowledgeable staff and unique ingredients like multiple bitters selection. The appetizer/bar menu was limited but adequate. Polenta fries were a fun item not seen everywhere and were done perfectly. Beer selection was good with rotating handles. Family friendly but appropriate for date night too. I look forward to coming back and having a full meal.

  First ever visit to Bend, celebrating our wedding anniversary. Found the Blacksmith in a hotel guide and a little surprised to find out the prices in the guide were VERY misrepresented. None the less I wanted a nice place for dinner and got everything I was looking for here. My only disappointment was the hostess... we were looking for an early meal and arrived a little after 4 pm (posted opening time on everything I read including The Blacksmith's own website). The hostess made a big deal and frankly was a bit condescending in the way she told us the dining room does not open until 5pm. She sat us anyway but only if we were willing to take a seat in the back near the kitchen where in her words we "wouldn't be seen". We refused to let this ruin a special evening and ordered. My wife had the surf and turf and it simply melted in your mouth. I was treated to the steak and fries and although it sounds simple this was anything but... my only wish was for just a little more demi-glaze. What a wonderful meal, we will definitely return the next time we are in town.
